Karen Beauchamp

Individual

Tarbert

Karen originally trained and worked as an architect, but very soon did a sideways move into wallpaper design and hand block printing.

She is now working as an experimental printmaker and painter working on the Kintyre peninsular. Her fascination is for the colours, shapes, and structures of the ancient rocks, where the land meets the sea, influences her work.

The work is elemental and abstract, reacting to the formation, layering and the energy driven fissures in formation of the rocks, plus their relationship to the structure of trees and to shoreline detail like wind and water patterns in sand.

Working mainly with monotype in a square format, using recycled materials cut into shapes to make small limited editions of about 10 pieces, and one off 3D collages re-using the recycled printing plates.

Colour and pigments have also been an enduring passion since childhood and she is completely fascinated by the daily changing colours of the seasons.
